The objective was:
- To achieve attractive, functional, flexible layout with code kept as simple as possible through use of standards based design methods.
- Simplify content publishing through the use of Open Source CMS products (to get maximum features with minimal coding) and systematic use of PHP include statements (to avoid repetitious code entry).
- Learn lots of new stuff and have a blast.
Following the brief initial surge of activity, the redesign has been lagging mostly cause I’ve been busy (income producing projects get priority treatment, you see). It’s still a work in progress. So far, I updated the Gallery page to the latest version of PHP Gallery and converted the the old news and updates page into a WordPress blog; the old page was essentially a blog anyway. I still gotta move my music review and links pages. The silly Camry page was dropped, but I might bring it back since I was getting tons of hits on it. Once everything is cleaned up and additional content added, I’ll sign up with Google AdSense or Yahoo! Publisher (or any of the other contextual ad network offerings) to help pay for hosting costs.
